Latest News - 16th November 2009

First of all Important Information.

The Bull 1 are now playing home fixtures at Ticehurst Village Club and playing under the name of Ticehurst Club with immediate effect.

Now for the season so far.

The White Hart Nomads currently top the league with 58 points and lead by 13 points from The Royal Oak who have 45.

The RedLion 1
are in third place with 44 points with The Queens Inn two points further back on 42.

Both the Red Lion and the Queens have played 1 less game than The White Hart and The Royal Oak as they have had their Bye.

7 players have so far recorded 180's, Nigel Relf having recorded two.

Simon Drury and Jim Carroll have both scored 120 out shots.

Generally things are going well however, sadly, I have heard on the Darts grapevine that a number of teams are complaining about the new league format of 6 singles and 3 pairs.

May I just remind everybody that all teams were contacted BEFORE the league started to get their views on the change of format and the vast majority of team captains agreed to the change. If memory serves me right 8 teams were in favour, 2 were against and 2 were not bothered either way. If the rumours are correct and there is some unrest then please contact either Sharon or Myself to discuss your concerns.

That's all for now but I'll end with reminder about the League Website. It is updated every week with Match Results, 180's and High Out shots so pop in and take a look. There is an up to date League Table there too. The website can be found at: http://burwashdarts.leaguerepublic.com

Burwash Dart League website.

The season is now underway and I have set up a website which gives all the results and fixtures.

The website can be viewed by visiting http://www.burwashdarts.leaguerepublic.com/

Week 1 match reports

The first game week started well for the White Hart Nomads who recorded a superb 9-0 win against their rivals the White Hart Bishops. Team captain Gavin Studholme continued his excellent form from the summer league with a fine display, winning both legs in his singles in 17 darts, one with a 97 finish.

Another team expected to do well this season is the Queens Inn, Hawkhurst. They also started the season well with a home win of 8-1 against the Bull 2.

One of the other favourite sides, the Red Lion 1 had a tight game against the White Hart Bandits. The match could have gone either way however the Red Lion ran out 6-3 winners.

Any captains who wish to submit reports can e/mail them to me at vince.gould@btinternet.com

AGM and Rules meeting - 21st August 2009

AGM 21st August

A meeting was held at the White Hart, Wadhurst on Friday 21st August to elect a committee and to formulate a proper set of rules for the Burwash Darts League.

The meeting was Chaired by Vince Gould and was attended by representatives from most of the teams wishing to enter this years league.

Can all teams provide an e/mail address so that results and league tables can be sent out on a regular basis.

An update will follow in the next few days.
